Singing circles of sound without words brings out our intuitive nature and makes vocalizing amazingly accessible. Circle Singing has a centuries old tradition where tribal groups would gather and join together in repetitious chant-like singing that can become intoxicating and uplifting. As singers relax into the revolving chants, additional harmonies and counter melodies are layered one upon another resulting in beautifully inter-woven songs and complex rhythms. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this singing is the creativity that emerges. No two sessions are alike and the compositions seem to flow from the spirits of those present. There is always lots of excitement, laughter, unusual sounds and rhythmic offerings, making for a wonderful community experience.
"Like logic, law, and technology, the control implicit in language is a facade. We carefully label and categorize the whole world, hoping thereby to impose
order upon it, to domesticate the wild, but we delude ourselves to think that the wild respects our bounddaries any more than a squirrel respects a "no trespassing"
sign. To this day, it is the voice that communicates more than the speech."
